My suggestion is to ask those employed in the banking sector to work under the same conditions and pay for a month and see if any of them survive! Nurses are a precious commodity in the healthcare system as without them we have no effective hospitals. Give them the break they need Mr Iemma. Better pay and conditions will help keep experienced nurses in the profession to mentor the new graduates and those returning to the profession. May I personally thank every nurse for their uncompromising efforts in treating their patients.

Nursing has become very specialised- a profession not a vocation. The need the appropriate respect!

I have been a nurse and midwife for 12 years now. The conditions have gotten worse, the patient’s are often unpleasant, the media always seem to be on the witch-hunt and the lack of nurses is being band-aided by undertrained and quite often unsafe staff. I for one am on my last legs unless something changes!

If we dont save our nurses, who is next? Police, Ambulance Officers ect?? Remove your digit Iemma! I dont want to be next.

I recently spent time in a couple of hospitals. The nurses are soooo good, but always very busy. I almost felt embarassed or a burden when needing help. I thought nursing was about caring for the patient. They need the care more than the patient at the moment. GIVE THEM A FAIR GO. They deserve better.

Without the ‘worker bees’ of our hospitals, where would any of us be? (no pun intended). We need more nurses not less. Pay them what they are worth! It’s no wonder our health system is crumbling, not enough doctors, not enough nurses… Why is it so hard to invest in the most important asset of all - our health and health care?

As a person that has had the misfortune of falling very ill and spending up to 2 months in a hospital, I am thankful for the nurses that love their job and I could see how hard the job is for them. However for the ones that aren’t paid enough they seem to be unhappy with the job so they like the job more. And then the really good nurses who love their job should get more money so that we would not have the shortage of nurses that we have in Australia.

As a registered nurse but not working as one due to the poor pay and working conditions, I am pleased to see a televised campaign aimed at awareness of such issues. I am sure there are a great number of qualified nurses just as I am who would love to return if only the conditions improved for such a highly technical and demanding career.

Nurses work so hard for us. we should show them our consideration by giving them what everyone would want if they were in their position, Fair pay and Fair conditions.

I feel very stressfull with workload at work that getting more and more new hospital policies is introduced nearly every month and we have to do it and also the shift hours work that make me have been having difficult to sleep every night..
too many diffferent things i ave to do at work, make me feel like nursing is an “unclear job”. i sometimes thinking of leaving dis job, following my other 7 mates (all of them nurses) who left nursing for the other job that less stressfull, less pressure and off course good money too..
i’m thinking of doing another job soon..
