Fantastic ad. At the very least, nurses have the deep respect of the NSW public. Mr Iemma would be wise to give their pay claim fair consideration.

my wife was working in a public hospital, they cancelled her contract and asked for applicants for her job, she applied and lost it due to not enough words!!! there is another job in exactly same field, she was told to re-apply for this one so she has to go thru this rubbish all over, i cant understand why the jobs werent pooled to make everyone happy??!! the state govt should be ashamed of the system they use to employ nurses, no wonder we have a shortage, with such incompetance in the management system.

nurses work really hard and under a lot of preassure ,we need to employ more and treat the ones we have better with more pay and better conditions then the ones who have left might come back!

Nurses do an incredible job under extreme pressure. Please pay them accordingly and employ more of them in our hospitals so that their workload is eased.

I have just come home from a stay in a public hospital and my hat goes off to the nurses, they are the most compationate people who have to work in sometimes appalling situations and doing things for people that you or I couldn’t ever imagine having to do and I also had quite a few nurses doing back to back shifts and double shifts, and its not for the money that they are recieving now, we need to seriously look at this system and improve their working conditions if any of us wish to be nursed back to health properly, if things dont improve they will move on - They are only human afterall. Good Luck! Nurses we love and need you.

Heaven help the day that overworked and underpaid nurses decide that they’ve had enough and up and leave. Who would step up and do what they do – and so well? I applaud all nurses who continue to go to work every day in these conditions. But something needs to be done. Good on you guys!

I believe it takes a very special person to do the work a nurse does. They should be paid accordingly for their care and extremely difficult work.

My partner has always been dreaming to work in the healthcare industry. She has just started her career. I always thought that working in the private sector is stressful - but nureses here seems to be terribly stressed. They deserve much better condition and remuneration.

Can I just say they work so hard to save OUR lives and they get peanuts in return! They are a priceless part of society. Where would we be with out them….. GIVE THEM WHAT THEY DESERVE!!!!!!

I am a partner of a NSW Nurse who is constantly offering my support to my Wife who has been a nurse now for more than 6 Years.
She constantly is concearned with the ‘Skill Mix’ in her particular division, but I believe this is a common occurance throughout the Hospital System. The best way to help ease the problem, we think, would be to increase the number of skilled nurses in each division by offering fairer pay so up and coming nurses will be rewarded for the specialty fields they choose which would cover all facets of nursing and keep the balance in every department. Good Luck.
