Without our beloved NURSESwhere would we be.
THe BACKBONE of the nation
Having recently had two parents in Palliative Care our family has witnessed first hand the professionalism of NSW nurses. To loose these wonderful people from the Health System is not acceptable. The NSW government must have as a priority pay and conditions that attract and retain Nurses.
Does the goverment know the Australian population is ageing. with that more people are admitted to hospital. but who is going to be there to look after them? with more and more nurses getting sick and tired of the system and leaving who will be there to look after you? God help you Mr Iemma if you get sick!! Nurse do so much to help people at there worst what is the goverment doing to help those nusres cope. nothing!!!!! Nurse hold the system together give them want they deserve they are worth so much more.
My love of working in Aged Care, Dementia Section keeps me at work, certainly not my paypacket!
Lets give our NURSES full support .Whether you are a NURSE in a hospital, nursing home or working in the community you deserve to be paid better. We are all under immense pressure to deliver quality care.Come on NSW support your NURSES.
Hospital trained ENs should be paid the same as Tafe trained EENs with the offer of hospital paid training to do their medication course. My training in 1985 (in hospital)was hands on and allowed me to do and learn so much. I have continued to work in different areas of nursing for the past 23yrs. Currently Mental Health (for which I have a certificate) Yet none of my experience seems to count for anything. With all due respect hospital trained RNs didn’t have to do a bridging course when their training went in to Uni,so why should experienced ENs have to do an extra component along with the medication course???? It’s just about money and not future outlook.I wanted to do my EEN upgrade, but was unable to at the time. Now I find I have to pay for it myself or by scholarship, but that is a bit difficult at the moment as I was informed by Tafe that the NRB have put a hold on the courses, must be because NSW Health want all EEN training to be paid by the individual.’The Powers That Be’ have no idea!
My intention was to do the course then do my RNs part -time.Now I’m considering teaching at least THEY get paid what they’re worth. Morris Iemma a teacher wont be of much use to you when you get older!
Nurses are a mainstay of life for all of us. Each of us, and everyone we know will be in the care of a nurse at some point, possibly a critical point. It is absurd that Nurses are not paid well and must often endure poor working conditions. Nurses work for the health and welfare of us all.
I am an Enrolled Nurse working in Community Health, tettering on the brink of chucking it in..I have nursed for 25 years and I have had enough of being expected to just suck it up and get on with it and say nothing..My health is suffering and so is my bank balance and my patience..I love my job but I just can’t take it anymore..
I’m a Registered Nurse and have worked in the Aged Care industry for the past 15 years. This week, at age 42, I will work my final shift as a Registered Nurse. I’m going to study a completely different occupation. The ever increasing workload and pressures to take on tasks traditionally outside the nursing role have become untenable. Perhaps if the pay packet matched the workload and qualifications it would be a different story. Good luck with your campaign, I pray that it is successful before many more choose a different career.
Nurses are the backbone of our medical system be it in hospitals or out in the community or nursing homes they require our full support which includes better pay, better hours and better conditions. Most nurses that I have come into contact with go above and beyond their duty - they have to deal with difficult patients, relatives and an ever growing work load.I support them 100% and wish them well in their quest for a safer work enviroment and better pay.
